A Field guide to Prayer

Just to let our readers know that Fr. Charles Nalls has written a book that is now available.

I've ordered mine! Fr Nalls' writing style has always appealed to me, and I'm looking forward to reading what he has to say about prayer, which seems to get short shrift in certain circles these days.

My copy has now arrived. On first read, it is very sensible, and the "tone" is thoroughly Anglo-Catholic. I lament that Fr Nalls doesn't suggest S. Alphonsus as a resource. What he has written about prayer is every bit as applicable to people in 21st century America as it was to those of 18th century Naples. And S. Alphonsus is far more accessible--at least in my opinion--than S. John of the Cross. That said, the translations of S. Alphonsus currently available are... less than ideal.

Paul,

Many thanks for your kind remarks, and to the Continuum for letting folks know about the book.
